Brio UI vs Magic UI

Last updated · By Harjot Singh Rana

Magic UI and Brio UI both make React components that move, and both install through a CLI that copies the source into your project. They aim at different parts of a page. Magic UI makes the eye-catching effects on a landing page. Brio UI makes the everyday working parts of a product page, like the FAQ, the pricing toggle and the code input on a login screen.

I make Brio UI, so weigh that. What this page says about Magic UI is quoted from magicui.design and pro.magicui.design, read on 21 October 2026.

When is Magic UI the better choice?

  • You want visual effects for a hero or marketing page, such as an animated globe, a marquee of logos or animated text. Brio UI doesn’t make effects like these.
  • You want a large free catalogue to browse. Magic UI lists 150+ free components.
  • You want full landing page templates. Magic UI Pro sells blocks and templates; Brio UI sells components.
  • Your project already uses Tailwind and the shadcn CLI, and you want everything to match that setup.

When is Brio UI the better choice?

When the boring parts keep breaking. A pricing toggle has to format huge prices and three-decimal currencies; a code input has to accept a pasted code and an SMS autofill. Each Brio UI component is tested against a worst-case fixture with long text, huge numbers, right-to-left Arabic, empty states and 320 px screens.

Brio UI has no Tailwind requirement. Its styles live in the component file, so it works in a Tailwind project and in one without, and every component respects prefers-reduced-motion.

The React pricing toggle is free under MIT. Prices roll like an odometer when the period changes, and formatting goes through Intl.NumberFormat, so you pass a number, a currency and a locale. Install it with npx brio-ui add pricing-toggle.

Where does Brio UI lose?

  • Size. 6 free components are out today, against 150+ in Magic UI.
  • No effects. Brio UI has no globes, marquees or animated backgrounds.
  • Timing. Brio UI Pro is in presale and launches in November 2026. Magic UI Pro is out now.

Can I use both?

Yes. They don’t overlap much. A typical split is Magic UI for the hero effects and Brio UI for the pricing, FAQ, contact and changelog sections lower down. Both install through the shadcn CLI.
