Brio UI is run by Harjot Singh Rana, based in India, who is responsible for the data below. Write to hello@brioui.com with any question or request.
What we keep
- Your email address, and when you joined (your member number is your place in that order).
- Which form you used on the page (top, bottom or the bar on phones), to learn which one works.
- If you vote, the Pro part you picked. If a friend’s link brought you, their member number, and whether you opened your pass. For your own link, how many people it brought.
- Where your visit came from, for the visit when you joined: the campaign tags in the link you followed (such as
utm_sourceandutm_campaign), the website that sent you (only its address, such as reddit.com, never the page), and the first page you opened here. It tells us which posts bring people.
We don’t use advertising trackers, and we don’t sell your address. We use the providers listed below to run the waitlist, send the emails and count visits. To slow down abuse, our code keeps your IP address in memory for about ten minutes and doesn’t save it. Vercel, our host, keeps standard request logs (which include IP addresses) for a short time.
Visit counts and replays
To learn what works on the page, we use PostHog to count visits and actions (pages viewed, clicks, which component demos are opened, whether someone joins or shares their pass, and the rough country and device type) and to record anonymous session replays: how the page was scrolled and clicked, so we can see where it confuses people. If the page hits an error, PostHog also gets the error message and where in our code it happened, so we can fix it. Everything you type is hidden in those recordings, including your email address, which we never send to PostHog. It uses no cookies and stores nothing in your browser, so each visit is counted on its own and isn’t linked to you or to your email. If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal, nothing is counted or recorded.
Install counts
When you copy an install command, a code block or a component’s source in the docs, the page tells us what kind of thing you copied, which component it was for, your package manager and where the visit came from (as above). It never sends the text you copied. We also count installs. The shadcn CLI and the brio-ui CLI both fetch components from our registry, and we log each fetch: the component, the tool that asked for it and the website that sent it, if any. After the brio-ui CLI adds a component, it sends us a short note with the component names, the CLI version, your package manager and framework, and whether it ran in CI or inside an AI agent. It sends no file names, paths or project names. To turn the note off, set DO_NOT_TRACK=1 or BRIO_TELEMETRY=0.
To tell which visit led to an install, we keep a code made from your IP address and the date. It changes every day, and it can’t be turned back into your address. We don’t save the address itself.
Why
To send what the page promises: a welcome email with your pass, then two more (launch day, and Pro early access). And to honour the founding offer and any referral reward you earn. We rely on your consent when you join, and on keeping the promises of the offer.
Who handles it
- Turso hosts the waitlist database, in AWS’s US East (Virginia) region.
- Resend sends the emails and keeps a copy of your address to do so.
- Vercel hosts the site.
- Forward Email passes on what you write to hello@brioui.com to our inbox.
- PostHog counts visits and keeps anonymous session replays (see above), on its US servers.
Turso, Resend, Vercel, Forward Email and PostHog may process data in the United States.
In your browser
Before you join, this tab remembers where the visit came from (as above) and, if a friend’s pass link brought you, their member number, so your signup can carry them. That is kept in session storage and is gone when you close the tab.
After you join, this browser remembers your pass (your email, member number and a signed code that stands in for your email) and your vote, so the page can show them next time. The site also remembers your theme and, in the docs, the package manager you picked for install commands. Some component demos remember their own state, such as which changelog entries you’ve seen. None of this leaves your device unless you use the page, and the visit counter reads none of it. Clearing site data removes it.
How long, and your rights
Your founding discount lasts for as long as Brio UI sells Pro and is tied to your address, so we keep your email and member record for that long. Unsubscribing stops the emails and keeps your discount. Deleting your data ends the discount and any referral reward, because there’s nothing left to tie them to. You can ask us to show, correct or delete what we hold about you: write to hello@brioui.com. If you’re in the EU or UK and aren’t happy with our answer, you can complain to your data protection authority.
